Ashtanga vinyasa yoga wakes up the internal fire. It ignites the dormant flame of vital life energy within us.
The vinyasa system works on the synchronization of deep rhythmic breathing and movement. It creates a continuous flow of energy that heats up the body and has numerous benefits.
This Ashtanga Yoga Workshop is specifically designed for those who are completely new to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Also, current practitioners seeking a fresh perspective are welcome to join this workshop.
This Ashtanga yoga workshop will offer a comprehensive introduction to the practice and theory of traditional Ashtanga vinyasa yoga.
We will cover the essential principles and foundations of ashtanga yoga in a compact way.This yoga workshop will cover the primary series of ashtanga vinyasa yoga also known as yoga chikitsa.
The duration of the Ashtanga yoga workshop is of 2.5 hours. This yoga workshop has two modules. Module 1 covers the details of philosophy, elements, and techniques of ashtanga yoga. Whereas, module 2 covers the complete led class of the primary series of ashtanga yoga.
Details of each module are below:
Ashtanga Yoga Workshop (Module 1)
Introduction to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
Duration of this module will be 50-60 minutes approximately.
- Philosophy and concepts of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
- Elements of Ashtanga Vinyasa.
- Ashtanga Yoga lineage, the Tristana method. Further, we will discover the union of breath (pranayama), posture (asana) and focal point (Drishti).
- Mantra Chanting /Understanding the Essence of Mantras.
- Discovering the magic of breath. (Yogic Breathing/Ujjayi pranayama)
Ashtanga Yoga Workshop (Module 2)
Guided Primary Series Led class
The duration of module 2 will be 1.5 hours.
We will explore the sun salutations (A & B) in detail. Further, we will offer modifications to participants as per their strength and flexibility.
The primary series sequence will Start with Sun Salutations to get the body warmed up. Further, leading to the postures of ashtanga series including, standing, balancing, seated and inversions.
We will provide yoga props and modifications for each posture. So that it is suitable for beginners. We expect you to work hard, sweat and feel thoroughly stretched and energized by the end of the class.
